So, you’re looking to renovate a space, and you’re currently puzzled trying to choose a flooring option. Amongst all your flooring options, you’re looking for something easy to install, but also don’t want to compromise on its durability. As a local flooring business in Doncaster East, we would like our customers to know more about their choice before deciding to buy our products.
Your future floor is best to be able to withstand moisture and appeal to the space’s aesthetic; all whilst remaining within your budget. But now that you think about it, is it all just too much to ask? Well, we’re here to tell you that it’s not!
If you haven’t already heard about it, Hybrid Floors are a mix of two very popular flooring options – laminate and vinyl. And with the promise of providing the advantages of both flooring options, keep reading to find out if Hybrid Floors are meant for you.
Laminate and vinyl are great flooring options on their own. A laminate is a floating floor, that doesn’t necessarily need to be glued to the subfloor. This is why though its installation process is fairly easy, laminates tend to swell up from their joints when exposed to water or moisture. We have experienced it all when doing laminate flooring in Doncaster.
If we talk about vinyl flooring, on the other hand, it can withstand moisture. Nonetheless, vinyl is much more difficult to be installed it needs to be glued down to the floor. We do quite a lot of vinyl flooring projects in Doncaster, Vic and surrounding suburbs and this is true for most of them.
Here is where Hybrid Floors come to the rescue. Hybrid floors are durable, water-resistant flooring options that are also relatively easy to install. So, you get the best of both worlds, that too; in a variety of colours and modern designs.
Hybrid Floors are built to last. Hybrid Floors will last you approximately 20 years before they show signs of damage or repair. However, their longevity is greatly dependent on the treatment and care they receive over this period. If the Hybrid Floor does suffer any damage before its time, it can be easily fixed with the simple replacement of the damaged planks. Hybrid Floors come with a click and lock style of installation, such as that of a floating floor. This enables easy click and lock installation as well as replacement in times of repair.
Hybrid Floors can take floor mopping and scrubs as gentle as those received by a cloth scrub. However, on Hybrid Floors, using water or cleaning agents of temperature higher than 70 °C could risk damage to the surface of the many layers used to build the flooring.
Since we talked about how the longevity of the Hybrid Floor depends totally upon its maintenance and care, it only makes sense we drop in a few tips. Here are a few tips to consider when it comes to cleaning Hybrid Flooring:
Choose a soft-bristled broom – Though natural brooms seem like an environmentally friendly option, your Hybrid Floors will not be able to deal with the scratches that come with them. Instead, pick a broom with synthetic fibres which would be gentler to the surface of your floors.
Clean the broom often – Dust accumulates on the bristles of your broom, which can make them counterproductive to what they’re supposed to do. Cleaning brooms is easy. Just soak your broom in some soapy water for 30 minutes, rinse and dry.
Use a forgiving vacuum head – Similar to the bristles of a broom, harsh vacuum heads can also scratch the surface of your hybrid floors.
Get your hands on robot vacuums – They may seem like an investment at first, but they’re worth it in the long run. They get the cleaning done all on their own, with the help of their in-built sensors which steers them away from large obstacles in the house.
Avoid basic or acidic cleaning agents – When picking a cleaning agent, opt for one that has a neutral PH value. Cleaning agents with a neutral PH value protect the floors from the decomposition that acidic or basic cleaning agents might cause.
Wipe any spills immediately – If you’d like your floors to look spotless and shiny, make it a thumb rule to wipe any spills and stains immediately. This will avoid any colours of the spill staining the floor long-term.
You can if you want to, however, it wouldn’t be recommended. That is because one would have to maintain the temperature of the water below 70 °C. This is because Hybrid Floors cannot withstand temperatures above 70 °C, which would be difficult to maintain as steam mops usually go well beyond 120 °C.
Remember how we mentioned Hybrid Flooring resolves the problem of installation like that encountered in installing vinyl flooring? This is because Hybrid Flooring planks come with an underlay attached to each plank already.
So, no. Hybrid Floors do not need underlay.
